What qualifications are required to get a job as a Video Game Tester? Obviously, if you have some experience in this area it helps. However, everyone is a beginner at one point. The main thing is to be honest about your qualifications. If you've never been a game tester before, that's fine! Just admit it right up front in your application with the game company. However, be sure to tell them how much you love gaming, how much you play, how many games you've played all the way through, etc., etc. The game companies want to work with people who love games, and who really know their way around the various games they've played.

PaidGameTesters.com is the premier site online to show you how to get into the business of beta testing video games. You can download the games or have them sent by FedEx to your home. Some of the companies listed in our members' area pay game testers by check, and some companies give game testers a free copy of the game when it’s released plus a free T-shirt!

Your goal as a beta tester is to report bugs, and to give feedback on changes you'd make to the game, such as: What would you change to make the game better?  How could the company make the game more appealing to beginner gamers as well as more advanced gamers?  How do you like the sound effects and music?  What changes would you suggest there?  Are the graphics good enough?  Can you crash the game?  Can you hack it?

It’s always cool to be one of the first few people to see and actually play a game before the release date. If you’re one of the game testers, you don't have to worry about waiting for delays in the final product shipment. And if it's a game you would have wanted anyway you’ll most likely get it for free!

Some people think they can't be a video game tester unless they have the newest model computer, best graphics card, etc. This is not true at all! The video game companies want to make sure that their products work well on everyone's computer and platform. They want a diverse group of testers with all kinds of different hardware, not just people that have the latest stuff.
